Skateboard Contest

And 3rd Place goes to ...

Cameron Peterson!

Cam competed in his 2nd official Skate Contest on Saturday, and placed third in his event! Unlike the last contest, there were approximately 30 or so kids competing in the bowl contest. Some members of the skateboarding school, and the rest were "walk-ins". Again, he was in the Advanced 15 & Under category and was up against some pretty tough competition. Each participant had (2) 45 second runs, and the judges took the best run out of each. Cam was one of the few that actually made it through an entire run without falling off his board, thus ... 3rd place! I will attempt to post some video/pics soon, so check back!

One to make you laugh

A sweet grandmother telephoned St. Joseph's Hospital.

She timidly asked, "Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?"

The operator said, "I'll be glad to help, dear. What's the name and room number?"

The grandmother in her weak, tremulous voice said, "Norma Findlay, Room 302."

The operator replied, "Let me place you on hold while I check with her nurse." After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said, "Oh, I have good news. Her nurse just told me that Norma is doing very well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back as normal, and her physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged on Tuesday."

The grandmother said, 'Thank you. That's wonderful! I was so worried! God bless you for the good news."

The operator replied, "You're more than welcome. Is Norma your daughter?"

The grandmother said, "No, I'm Norma Findlay in 302. No one tells me shit."

By the way, this is how Hayden prefers to spend his afternoons while I'm working. Not so good for me. So I have to move him over to the left side of my desk, but then he tries to fall asleep on my keyboard. Then my emails tend to look something like this:

Patiently waiting

This ...

is still on my desk. Waiting. Patiently. I have been done with "New Moon" for quite some time. (I hadn't updated my "bookshelf" to the right, so for those of you who were wondering and worrying ... it really only took me about a day and a half to read the book. All 7000 pages. Not really, but you get my point.) Seriously. I would've done it in a day, but I had to take care of some little things. You know, like work, pick up Cam from school, help with homework, go to skate practice, fix dinner ... little things like that. So, knowing how I am with books (ie: I have a VERY hard time putting them down, and will sacrifice sleeping for the sake of a good book) I decided I needed to be sure I was ready to bury my nose in this one. Catch up on sleep. Make sure my "chores" are done, and it is a Friday night, preferably, then I can sleep a little later Saturday if need be. Pathetic, isn't it? I know.

Suns vs. Lakers

Bryan and Cam headed to the Suns/Lakers game today and had a blast! It was Cam's first game, and what a great game! He was so excited to see Amundson play (his favorite player). Little bummed that Nash and Stoudamire were still out, but that meant he'd get to see more of Amundson. They were about 11 rows from the floor, and right behind the Laker bench, so they could boo Kobe Bryant all they wanted. :) Not a family favorite. At any rate, Cam was ready to go with his custom Amundson jersey on, his purple sharpie (just in case) and the camera with an extra set of batteries.

So glad the game was great - and that they won. I had recorded the game, so we looked for them in the crowd when they got home. It was easy to pick Cam out with his white jersey and white cap on. Below are pictures of the game, courtesy of Cameron!
